Kids Beat the Parents

Tonight was my daughter's last beginning basketball class, and the culmination of the event was a basketball game where the kids played the parents (I think there were 11 kids and maybe six or seven parents on the court). The game had 6-minute periods (they even had a scoreboard set up). Each parent basically played opposite their child, and there was a fair amount of tipping the ball in the kids direction to give them the maximum amount of court time and chances at making a basket. My daughter had two shots on the goal (two tries) and she did some dribbling and passing. It really was fun to see the kids play, and they beat us...a score of something like 22 to 18.

Fun talking to the coach afterwards. Coach Larry has been doing this with the community center for 4 years, and did coaching for some 30 years before that. A great guy, a fun class, and even the parents (at least, yours truly) learned something in each class. Yes, I even took notes...

When we got home tonight after celebrating at McDonald's, my daughter and I played two games of basketball one-on-one, and she beat me both times...the last game played almost entirely in the moonlight alone.
